share resources between Windows 7 (64 bit) system and an XP (32 bit) system

By techtrainer1 ·
I have a windows XP 32 bit system hardwired to a cisco wireless router and a samsung printer (not wireless) connected via USB. I recently got a Dell Windows 7 64 bit laptop that can connect wirelessly to the web through the same router.

Can I set things up so that from my new win 7 system, I can access files on the hard wired system and the printer that are hardwired to the router?
Thanks

Yes you can but it may require that

you need to run a Setup Wizard on the CISCO Router and bridge the Wired and Wireless LAN's together.

Once you are sure that is done it's just a Matter of establishing a HomeGroup under the Windows 7 Box then following the directions on it for the XP Box and sharing what is required.

See this M$ Item for full details.
