Shutdown problem

After installing Windows2000 on a pavilion 4440, with 256 of ram, and loading all the drivers, the Pc will not turn off after shutdown. The logo (is safe to turn off your computer now just hang). The Registry key for shutdownafter is set for 1. Thepc will turn off after shutdown when running windows98. Can any one help. I have search the HP data base and the microsoft windows 2000 data base.

Have a check in your bios setting to make sure that the item has not been disabled.

BEFORE CHANGING YOUR BIOS, MAKE A NOTE oF THE SETTINGS.

Thank you DRBob, that did the trick. My client computer is able to shutdown all the way.
