Try this...

In Start / Settings / Control Panel / System / Advanced / Startup and Recovery I have the following checked. Make sure the "Automatic Restart" box is UNCHECKED.
Checking this box can cause hangs on shutdowns.

For shutdown: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -f -s -t 01
For restart: C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -f -r -t 01

Internet Explorer Hangs

by neelam.das In reply to Try this...

Hi peconet

Thanks for your reply. I unchecked the "automatic restart but same problem. Let me brief u the problem. The IE hangs up after using 5-6 hours. Then i close the IE by doing end task. Then the no. of times i open the intenet explorer "iexplorer" is added in proccess field of window task manager when i try to end the iexplorer process it doesnt happen.

Other applications runs fine but internet explorer doesnt open. Then when i try to restat, logoff or shutdown from window it doesnt happen. And the last option is to manually restart the system and after that everything work fine.

system specification:
operating system: window 2003 server sp2
internet exploer: IE 7.0
antivirus : Trend micro(updated)

Go into..

Internet explorer and delete it (if possible) and install ie6. This might work better on your system.
