single dhcp over multiple vlan on a single switch

By bohseng ·
Hi,
I am a newbie to vlan, i have problem to connect my multiple vlan to the internet and also assigning ip address for my vlan, i have set up 2 vlan on a single switch, i hav a router which has dhcp enable and connecting to the internet. I wish to have both my vlan connect to the router so that it can get ip address assigned by the dhcp in the router.I hav connect my router to vlan1 port, and machine in vlan1 is able to get ip address from dhcp, but machine in vlan2 is not able to get a ip address. Could anyone offer me some help, it would help me a lot, Thanks a lot.

define an iphelper adress pointing to your DHCP server, thus allowing clients to retrieve an IP (IP HELPER-ADDRESS X.X.X.X) where x.x.x.x is the ip of your dhcp.
and be sure to set a default gateway for every VLAN (for VLAN1 = default VLAN = default gateway or IP adress of you switch)

Hi
You must add a ip helper address of the DHCP server on every VLAN on the L3 switch that will enable the request to the server.
Also the DHCP must be setup with multible ip segments for the Vlan.
