Slow searching on contacts

By mgonzales ·
We have a couple of users that have local contacts as the first place to search and then the global address list. It takes upwards of 15 to 30 secounds for the seach to resolved the name put into the TO field. Sometimes it does not resolved a known name at all.

We are running Office 97 SP2 with Outlook 2000. Exchange is our e-mail server and were running on Windows 2000Pro.

Any suggestions?

I think you are referring to the slowdown in Outlook right?

Using the nickname feature for
autoresolution should help. You obviously have HUGE address lists, consider keeping the most frequently used contacts in your main folder, then others in a second folder as a fallback if the name doesn't resolve on the first folder.

you didn't specify the PC specs, but this is often resolved by adding RAM or upgrading the processor.

or

Pull the BIOS chipset and then resolder the capacitors and resistors on the motherboard. (sorry, disregard that last paragraph, it's an old River thing)
