Small Business Router

By nuSkool ·
Hello,

I am looking for a router that would allow me to assign a different external ip address to different internal machines. We have 5 static ip addresses and I would like static ip address1 to go to OWA access for instance and static ip address2 to go to say a development machine. Is there any good routers out there that would allow this at an affordable price for a small business.

I would appreciate any suggestions for good security practices in this type of implementation also. What should I be aware of? what should I do? What shouldn't I do?

Thank you

I think...

You'd be better off assigning those addresses at the server/workstation and programming them on the machines themselves rather than trying to assign a specific IP address to a specific MAC address, via DHCP.

I am ordering one this week I read up on it and it has an impressive amount of features for a reasonable price. I am going to get the one with the enhanced os as this is the one I need for one-to-one nat.

How do i do this....

by nuSkool In reply to I think...

Where can I find a tutorial or a guide on how to do this? The sonic wall is less than $300 so it's not a bad option from my point of view.

Also how secure is this solution? wouldn't they have to be directly attached to the T1 line for this to work?
