SNMP.EXE - Resource related NT Svr 4.0 Q

By bbuechler ·
This one's a little obscure.

For no apparent reason, all the resources on this server are being taken up (CPU and Memory) by the service SNMP.EXE. It continues to utilize 100% of system resources for about 10 minutes.

Please provide some information, (including any speculation), about what might be causing this.

Thanks.

There is an old NT 3.5 problem that matches the description, but I don't know from personal experience.

MS says it was fixed in 3.51, but they've said that about plenty of other bugs that still exist in NT4

Good info, but didn't really help resolve the issue. We believe it may have been an internal networking issue that actually caused the problem. (ie. Backups etc).
