Sony PCV-RZ30CG Recovery Disks Failed

By Casemaker ·
I have the Sony VAIO Desktop PCV-RZ30CG .The client had XP SP2 automatically install on the pc. After it would not boot. I tried recovery fro the hidden partition but it would not work.I ordered new disks from Sony and they would not work, ordered another set would not work. Said disc not compatible with machine check model. Did that am sure these are the disks. Sony support said to flash the BIOS and it had to be done in Windows. I formated the drive installed XP home and flashed. Still can't use the disks. Drained Bios, swapped memory, still no go.

i would make waves at sony about this. eg. 'I am not satisfied and what i need to be satisfied is a set of recovery cds that work with this system. i am a systems professional and i have spend too much time on this already. if i do not get satisfaction to day i will tell all my customers to avoid your product. I want to talk to a supervisor'
you can't be the only one with this problem.
could you have a foreign country sony?
i hate those sonys and this is one reason why. i never heard of your problem sorry. if this were a dell you'd be up by now. i cannot figure out the user attraction to the hps and the sonys. beyond me. good advertising i guess.
have you explored the cd. can you find the cab files and do your own install heck with their scripts. if you can find the answer files maybe the xp serial number is in there?

ps. the tech support sucked a few years back and i started urging my customers not to buy sony. looks like tech support still sucks.

Thank You! I talked to Sony support and they had me do a few things. Reset bios nothing. Then she said the BIOS needed an update. She said that it had to be flashed from within Windows. I loaded a clean install XP Home and did the flash. It said it needed the Sony Shared Library, I installed then it flashed and still wont boot. When I asked her about flashing the system when it was dead she had no suggestion about loading xp that was my idea. She said it had to go to an authorized Sony repair center. I asked her what they would do that I could not do. she could not tell me.

They probably want you to send it in because it is a bug that they just became aware and would like to test the machine. This is the only reason why I would have you (an authorized dealer\repair center) send in a computer to get fixxed to the manufacturer.

What about pulling the battery, and power plug and letting it sit for awhile, maybe you're getting some kind of memory effect??
