Spool32 error

By jefflevin ·
I am having the same issues with the spool32 error messages on win98SE. The printers will all of a sudden disappear or a persistent spool32 error message will appear. I have moved the spool32.exe into the start up folder and still no go. Anymore ideas?

Rename spool32.exe and copy a working version from a same type of machine or from the Win 98SE CD-Rom and try to print.

Also, make sure that you have plenty of virtual memory.

Are you running an HP printer? Turn off bi-directional support in the driver. If that doesn't help, change the spool format (either RAW or EMF) to the opposite one. If that still doesn't help, try using an older driver from the Windows CD (LaserJet III, LaserJet 4 plus, etc).

I had the same problem recently, too.

try cleaning out your c:\windows\temp and c:\windows\spool\printers folders. spool32 is very sensitive to unfinished or corrupted print jobs, and this is where they live.

#4 IS THE BEST OF THE LOT,
HERES ONE OTHER THING TO TRY,
MAKE SURE OR GO GET A NEW PRINTER CABLE.
MAKE SURE IT IS BI-DIRECTIONAL "IEEE 1284 OR 1384(I CANT REMBER)" SHOULD SAY HTISON THE PACKAGE. THIS WILL COST ABOUT 10 BUKS BUT ITS AQUICK FIX.IS IT AN EPSON PRITNER? THEY HAVE A REAL ANOYING PRINTER SPOOL MANAGER? IF SO CHECK THOSE SETTINGS
