spoolsv.exe problem

By troeteltjie ·
I have an error message coming up on my computer. It says spoolsv.exe has caused an error and Windows will close it. Since this problem came up, I cannot use my printer or send faxes. Please advise.

Don't ask "how"

by Thamer In reply to spoolsv.exe problem

Someone suggested this tip ... and it seems to do the magic.

Perform the following steps:
-Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop.
-Double-click the C: drive.
-Locate and double-click each of the following folders:
WINNTSYSTEM32
SPOOL
PRINTERS
-Select and then delete all the files located in the PRINTERS folder.
-Click the Start button, click Shut Down, click Restart, and then click OK.

Your printers should appear as normal upon reboot.

Solution?

by barney1 In reply to spoolsv.exe problem

I have the same failure and there is no direct printer connection to this Laptop, just a common network printer.
I could not fix the problem so I put a shortcut* on the desktop to spoolsv.exe. My failures were mainly at startup. If I restart spoolsv from the shortcut it will continue to work until I reboot.

* C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe
