startup order

By johnnyextreme ·
Is there a way to change the order in which items in the Startup folder are executed? Is there a way to delay the startup of one of these items so it fires after everything else has started? How about services that start automatically - is there away change the order in which services start?

Without knowing which os you have I can only address win95-98. Msconfig will let you change the order of all the startup item, even the ones the system uses. Click start then run. Key in msconfig. The startup tab has all the services and startupprograms. You can change the order with the move up and move down buttons.

Under W95, one way to control the sequence of startup progs was to launch them from a batch file. Create a text file and put a Start command on each line for easch program you wish to load, in the order you wish to load them. Save it to filename.batand put s s/cut to it in the startup folder of the start menu.
