Stop Junk Mail

By bill_castetter ·
Have users on a very active junk mail list. Junk mail arrives as a BC to GroupWise, would like to, by rule, delete all external mail as a BC to these users. Have tried several rules with no success, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Have you tried to filter them out by configuring the GW Internet Gateway? Go to Details, SMTP, and add in the domain name that is sending you the junk mail in the disallow list. You can configure for the entire domain such as junkmailer.com, or a single address such as junkemailer@somedomain.com.

Mail comes from various addresses. These are "fly by night" mailers who are no longer at the domain sent from once they send the mailing. I suspect there are hundreds of addresses.

Groupwise itself can't do a great job!.
You can ADD a rule to empty items to every e-mail that have the BC field with something, but it will also prevent you from recieving BC from anybody in your network. Then you must modify the .bif file in order to make the rule as a defalut for every user in your network.
Consider "Interscan VirusWall with e-manager". It will isolate you from viruses and also with the e-manager plug in, you can also eliminate spam mail. (it automatically updates a list of the top ten spam senders)
It can be easily installed between GWIA and your firewall (or the internet itself)
Cost: 5000u$s for 300 users in Argentina
