Subnet questions

By dennisbv ·
I am setting up a small network and I want to subnet it. I want the servers and some clients on one subnet and I want some other clients on another subnet and they need to access the servers on the first subnet.
first subnet Can I use a network 211.11.11.16 with 255.255.255.240
this would give me 14 hosts which is what I want.
and subnet 2 211.11.11.32 with 255.255.255.240
also 14 hosts.
How would I route between then?
on subnet 2
I had a route 211.11.11.16 255.255.255.240 to 211.11.11.33 (the wan side of subnet 1 router) is this correct?

The safest thing to do first is to use a 192.168.0.0 address scheme. These IPs are set aside for internal use. You should still be able to use the 11.16 and 11.32 subnets with you mask.

The type of router you are using would determine what commands to use for the routes.

Last night I put in route 211.211.11.0 to the Wan side of router1 211.11.11.33 and this worked. But your answer would have helped.
