Sun 5.8 / W2K pdc

Some workstations Sun workstations, Some Windows XP Pro, Some Xp Home, Server 2000 with dns & dhcp but several systems have static ip's --- What a mess, the most recient problem is when we at a xp pro system and type ftp 192.168.x.x it times out or gets connection refused from the sun blade server. This is new Any Ideas?

The Windows box is likely resolving all addresses from the Windows DNS server. Make sure the host and PTR records for the Sun blade server are setup in Windows 2000 DNS. If you continue to have issues, use a 3rd party FTP utility on the workstation.If this doesn't work, you may be requiring an incompatible type of authorization and/or data encryption mechanism.

How do you rate and answer it helped but you are not there yet? This helped but if I am ftping to an address resolving should not be in play?
