Suppress Read receipt in Outlook

Sorry, I think I closed the question by mistake.

I remember reading a tek-tip or something not too long ago that described how to supress the "read receipt" when you open an e-mail. Does anyone know how to do this or have a URL for the article? Iwould like to read my mail without letting the sender know it has been read.

The first time you posted this question, the answer provided was right except if your email comes from an Exchange Server.
You can go to Tools, Options, Email Options, Tracking Options, and select at the bottom do send response. If your Servber isan Exchange Server, you only option is to set it in the Exchange Server to not send receipt confirmation.

First, you need to have the preview pane visible (View, Preview Pane). then got to "Tools, Options", select the "Other" tab, in the preview pane options, uncheck the mark messages as read and the mark as read when changed. it works for me, my boss requests a read recp't for every message he sends out.

Suppress Read receipt in Outlook

By using the preview pane I am able to read all of my inbound mail and only "Open" it when I want the receipt to be sent. This was the simplest method and it works great.
