T1 with an external firewall

By acsbillw ·
I have a T1 line and am trying to hook up a external firewall and am haveing trouble getting threw it. The T1 router is a niva 200 and the fire wall is a dlink 701. I think that might be the problem but I'm not sure. Coming out of the T1 is an 10BASE T port that goe's straight to the 10/100 hub and all the systems work fine that way but when I put the firewall in between the T1 router and the hub nothing works. I can see the firewall but thats it.

You should log into the router and see if you have have access to port 80 or any other ports such as 110 or 25. If you do not have these ports open you will not get any type of connectivity beyond the firewall.

T1 with an external firewall

There could be any number of problems. First, is your router providing DHCP for your internal network? That could be a promblem if your answer is yes. Computers would not be able to get gateway information.
Are you sure the D-Link is set up correctly? Is it set to use the router as the default gateway? Is the D-Link set up to provide DHCP? If it is, make sure the the gatway IP address provided to your network is the IP of your D-Link and not the router.
If you need more help, we would need toknow a bit more about your setup.
