    Task Scheduler User Name

    Locked

    by larry52 ·

Recently, the computer name was changed on one of my PCs. Now I am having trouble getting scheduled tasks to run. When I looked at the properties of one of these failed tasks, I noticed that the “Run As” user name was “\“. I tried changing it in the task properties window to “\” (the computer name changed, but the user name remained the same), but it would not keep the change. Where is the Task Scheduler getting the old computer name. If it is somewhere in the Registry, can some one tell me what I need to modify to get it to work?

Your best bet is to delete the old task and make a new one, just make it do the same think

Thanks for the tip. But I tried that, and it just created the new task using the old computer name. I finally gave up on the issue, changed the computer name back to the old computer name, and everything started working again. Guess I just have to live w/ the name Windows gave my computer! Thanks again for responding.
