Temp directory

By andrew.raspudic ·
We have a lot of PCs on the network that run very slow.
When we go and check the temp directory sometimes it is up to 100MEG in size. as soon and we empty it out you can see the improvement in speed. I know that this works but i dont know why??

Temp directory

The reason why you see an increasein speed when the temp directories are cleared is because then the machines have enough space on their drives to have a big enough swap file and that will speed the machines up.

That is assuming you are running AMS enviroment.

Thanks
Gary

are they running application over the network?
1. if they are running local software, then it certainly helps to clear the browser cache, temp files, and at times defragmentation
2. if running over the network, then there could a bottleneck on thenetwork.
