The latest on ITIL V3

There has been much discussion around the changes introduced with ITIL V3. As one of the largest consumers of ITIL examinations in the global marketplace, ITpreneurs is actively monitoring the progress of ITIL V3, from which the new direction on the ITIL V3 Qualification Scheme will emerge. Indeed, our ITpreneurs President, Alan Nance, is a member of the ITIL Advisory Group (IAG) representing the consulting constituency. The IAG is a collection of industry experts responsible for the direction and guidance of the ITIL Refresh Project. Being in this industry, you can be assured of access to up-to-the-minute progress, next steps, and emerging schemes for the first revamp of ITIL guidance in five years.

The latest schedule for ITIL V3 has the publications ready for release in late spring (Q2 of 2007). A call for Public Quality Assurance has just been closed as of 4th of December.

APMG has also established a Senior Examiner Panel that will develop the v3 Qualification Scheme, taking forward the ITIL Refresh into qualifications. Sharon Taylor, the Chief Architect for the ITIL? Refresh Project, has been appointed by the APM Group as Chief Examiner for ITIL V3. Members of this committee represent the global reach of ITIL best practices. This panel will be responsible for determining the revised qualification scheme for ITIL V3, along with other ongoing activities related to items such as course syllabuses, exam questions, and marking guidelines. ITpreneurs is pleased to announce the nomination of Katsushi Yaginuma, head of ITpreneurs Japan, to this panel of esteemed experts representing the growing ITIL audience in Asia.

All of this activity is leading to the new ITIL V3 release in 2007, obviously an important event for the ITIL community. Considering this release is still half a year away, and there will be an additional time period afterwards during which examination materials are developed to include the new content. ITpreneurs supports organizations working in this industry to make a more informed decision regarding current opportunities to educate IT professionals before V3's release. ITpreneurs is creating an ITIL V3 leadership team with respected ITIL community thought leaders, who will be responsible for the direction and development of ITpreneurs new ITIL V3 product line.
