The process "store.exe"

By cliveoates ·
I have Small Business Server 2000 running on a W2K server. A nightly full system backup happens every night on a scsi tape drive. After a sucessful backup there's this process "store.exe" that uses up almost half of the server's available memory. Can i simply end this process, or will it affect the exchange server if i do so? Any ideas?

store.exe is managing your database.
leave it.
add more memory to the server (mine has 1 GB for 40 mailboxes.)
and install exchange 2000 sp3 and the rollups (if you dont have it yet.

Exactly the same here, i have 1GB RAM for 40 mailboxes. Thanks for the quicl reply! The "store.exe" usually does not consume that much memory. This only started after my nightly full backup tries to complete by verifying the backup job. Pls refer to my other question which i just sent after the store.exe one. It is related to this one.

which antivirus software are you running.
Is there anything in the eventviewer, and how long does the store.exe use the memory before returning to normal.

Store.exe is the Exchange Information Store service. It does use a lot of memory, so leave it alone.
