the rest of my problems

By s_erial_experiment_s ·
my video is a little iffy. when i open graphic applications like games or video editors i get an illegal operation(usually kernal 32), and every time tried after that ddraw.dll can't be accessed(in a diagnostic prog, i found that it's probably still being used from the first try). i've tried installing new direct x and drivers from the restore disk, but neither has worked.

my CD-ROM isn't always recognized. i check both MY computer and Hardware Profiles, and neither has it. it's randomlyrecognized and unrecognized, and usually when it can't be found on one boot up, i can reboot to get to it.

last, my USB digital camera doesn't respond on the machine. it's recognized, and i can find it in the hardware profile, but i can't accessit through programs that use it. i've tried reinstalling the drivers on the disk, and i've tried reinstalling the image progs that came with it, but still noting.

i've also been considering a format. if anyone can step me through that, i'd appreciate it.

thanks.

See my answer to your sound problem question.
I am certian that some of the quarantined files were required system files, and that that is at the root of your problems.

Which likely explains why someone else got rid of the machine.
