I recently formatted my h/d and re-installed win98. When i set up my file folders to look like a web page, I no longer see .jpg in a thumbnail view on the side, only .bmp's. I have installed quickview off the disk but to no avail. Have tried different combinations of folder options, but again, no joy. I have paint, imaging and photo editor installed, if this is any help.

Just a guess here. It might have something to do with the program association attached to .jpg & .bmp
Compare the two and make .jpg associated with the same program as .bmp

Make sure that Active Desktop is installed. JPG is a web only format in the eyes of Win9X. If it is installed make sure that it's enabled.

I had this problem when QuickTime hijacked the file association for Jpg from XP.

I ended up copying over the registry key for the IE JPEG file association from another PC.

Just deleteing the eroneous association did not fix the problem, as it did not repair the registry association for IE.

Un-installing IE, and re-installing might fix the problem.
