Ticking laptop. BIOS doesn't recognize HD!

By bugdro ·
Hello. I have somebody's Dell Inspiron laptop. It was making an odd ticking noise -- it was definitely the hard drive. I took out the HD that was in there and put in a brand new Western Digital HD. I'm 100% positive it is compatible. Even with the new HD in, BIOS doesn't recognize it, but the ticking noise stops. I have no clue what the problem is. In BIOS everything else is there except the hard disk. It says NONE. I can't boot-up! HELP AHHH!

All Dell pc's use cable select for the hard drive. Make sure yours is set for cable select.

Hi, I have a dell inspiron laptop too, and only recently my laptops hardrive has started ticking too, I bought the laptop a few years ago and go on it around 6 hours a day. I don't know whats up but its very off putting, were you able to find any ways of stopping it?
