Toshiba Laptop will not boot

By plano_gal ·
I have a year old Toshiba L35- S1054. It tries to boot then just stops. There is not any error messages. It goes through the boot, you see the XP splash screen then it just stops.
It will recognize the Recovery CD but loads the Ram Drive and stops also. It will not load up in Last Known Good or Safe Mode. In safe mode it get to mup.sys. then stops. Any suggestions?
Not worried about data just would like to be able to reimage or something.

If possible, download ~ burn ~ boot from this CD.

Use the HDD examination tools to check your hard drive over.

memtest

Use a memory testing tool to determine whether your system's RAM is failing. If so, you may need to replace it to get proper operation out of your laptop again.

Another possible problem is overheating. The processor ramps up quite a bit during booting, and generates a lot of heat. If it's passing a "safety" point for CPU temperature, this might be causing the system to lock up during boot.

That's all that comes immediately to mind for possibilities.

How much memory do you have?

If possible replace the memory with a 2gb stick, this will gives your laptop a little boost and make it run a little smoother and quicker. Hope this helps you.

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.
