You are really early today with this so while you’re still asleep or have yet to get to bed I’ll not bother with the obvious that I only post 42 times never any more. :^0
Have a great Weekend and for that matter Friday.
And for Tamminkins Hippo Burslday to you, OH to be 21 again makes me feel old. 😉

That I spent all day yesterday reassembling a Harley that had been stripped to repaint the crappy Power Coated Frame.
Not really but as they where repainting the Tank, Guards and so on the owner got carried away and stripped it down. Gads what fun that was a 3 dimensional Jigsaw Puzzle with some bits missing.
Why anyone would want to ride one though is something I completely don’t understand and the American Chrome Plating is nearly as bad as Italian Chrome Plating.

I miss my ride…

In reply to OH and another thing best not tell Tammy
although it wasn’t a Harley, it was a nice little cruiser. I put close to
100,000 miles on the old gal, gave it to one of my brothers-in-law
for helping me move out of a house when I was getting out of an
unhappy relationship. I rode a Kawasaki LTD 550, great gas mileage…
used to want a Harley, but seems I never acquired one. Maybe I’ll
find another that suits me, something in the 750 to 900 cc range,
but not a “crotch rocket”, those don’t look too comfortable to me!
Yes, I keep my motorcycle operators license current too! -

But this thing is a Pig to ride
by hal 9000 · about 11 years, 3 months ago
In reply to I miss my ride…
As it’s owner describes it as His Mid Life Crisis it’s about right a 1000 thing that goes into a Tank Slapper at 120 KPH and as it’s supposed to go much faster, that to me is a bad Sign. Of course that is 20 KPH below me moving the Ducati out of First to second but I’ll leave that alone for the moment.
Silly thing has Raked Forks the stupidest Triple Trees that I have ever seen with the top being considerably smaller than the bottom so that the Fork Legs are at an angle to the Top Triple Tree and requires a Tapered Shim that has to be held still while you tighten the Fork Tube Top Bolts. They also have 2 spacers to pretension the springs which isn’t normal for sensible forks even Japanese ones which these are. I knew that there was something wrong when after fitting 1 Spring Spacer there was free movement in the forks which shouldn’t be there.
On the up side it actually has a chain drive instead of a Rubber Band but I really wonder if the way that the Handel Bars are mounted is even close to Legal. The Actual Bracket that the Bars go into are OK but it sits on 2 rods about 3 or 4 inches above the top Triple Tree Clamp.
The thing has been stripped down and left for about 6 months and the Original Chrome is all pitted and crappy. If I paid for a company do do Chrome Plating like that I would be returning it very quickly but maybe that’s just me and others find it acceptable.
I saw the old 1933 BSA that I restored in the early 70’s last week and not any of the chrome on it has any pitting. Some looks a bit off but that’s because it was pitted badly before being chromed but the current stuff has not lifted at all and even the previously pitted metal is still completely covered. Needless to say the guy who owns it now didn’t have a cover over it and I had to wash the dust off it where it has not been moved for years so I could have a decent look at it. Unfortunately he sold the Dusting Sidecar as it scared him attempting to ride it with the chair on it. 😀

for all your hard work and lending me a hand this morning, hugely appreciated.
…finally managed to log in….anyone else have any issues this morning? I couldn’t log in earlier and just changed my pw a minute ago to see if that would do it; it did. I’ve used the same log in info for the last few years so it left me a little perplexed. Oh well, it’s all good now.
Happy birthday Tammy, hope you have a most awesome day!!!!

got up at my usual early hour Friday, no TR Scoreboard…
Hope she isn’t feeling too bad, this is a rough time of year to be
feeling ill. There’s been a couple of different bugs roaming the
countryside in my neck of the woods…bronchitis and stomach
issues seem to be primary symptoms. Not much to treat with other
than antibiotics for the bronchitis and symptomatic relief for the
stomach upset. Keep the fluid intake up to avoid dehydration,
and lots of good chicken soup help (yes, I know, it’s not very
“pharmaceutical” sounding, but it does help!)

by hal 9000 · about 11 years, 3 months ago
In reply to Sorry all….
Killing yourself trying to keep us happy isn’t really a long term option. So look after yourself and get better ASAP.
Returning to work way too early has never done anyone any favours and has always resulted in longer times off work and making whatever you have worse.
So Soni look after yourself and get better sooner rather than latter. 😉
My Condolences for your loss I hope they didn’t suffer.

My condolenscences as well…
by Wizard57M-TR · about 11 years, 3 months ago
In reply to Sorry all….
our little community has lost several members the past couple of weeks.
Always hard to deal with.
As for the chills and fever…ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB, etc.) or plain old aspirin
or acetaminophen (Tylenol) will help…if rather high fever, rotate the dosage…
one dose take APAP or ASA, next 4 hours take ibuprofen (APAP=acetaminophen
ASA=aspirin)…chicken noodle soup helps, good “comfort food”…any other
symptoms such as cough or congestion? If so, a good expectorant such as
guaifenesin (Robitussin, Mucinex) breaks up chest crud, if excess cough
accompanies it try one with the “DM” added. Orange juice is good to keep
yourself hydrated, as well as boost Vitamin C intake at same time.
Get well! Wiz 😉
ps—I’ll send my bill via email, LOL! Just joking!
