trouble joining the domain

By mjkqb ·
Recently upgraded my home network to W2000 from NT4.0 Have 3 workstations and one PDC (running 2000 advanced server).

One workstation will not join the domain. Error is always "network path not found." Have tcp/ip and netbeui installed and am able to ping the server and all other nodes. Also, able to share files between all nodes.

So far, have reinstalled NIC and all protocols. The last thing I did was to install sp1. Thanks for any help... Michael

Check the computer name. It must be unique on your network, and it must have only "legal" characters (alphanumeric) in it. Also, be sure that a machine with that name and a different address is not already in your domain.

Good luck.

Make sure to add a computer object and user account for the workstation in AD. Have a zone for your domain in DNS and add a forward and reverse lookup for the host.
