Trouble shutting Win98 system down

By PENGUINSRULE ·
I'm having trouble getting my Windows 98 system to shut down properly. (Packard Bell). I've checked both Temp directories and cleaned those up. I've defragged. I run a utility called Fixit'99 by Mijenix so, I've done registry fixer, registry cleaner, disk fixer, cleaned up files and all - still not a lot of luck. I run their virus checker, but I'm not sure how good it is. Any ideas?

thanks

I'm not going to just reload my system just like that - I want to make sure I've done absolutely everything before having to do that. Isn't there anything else I can try?

click start-->run==>type msconfig press enter you will be taken to system configuration utility. click on advanced and in advance you have an option called "disable fast shutdown" check this and button (if already checked then uncheck it). This will solve the problem of shutdown. All the best.

Goto the start button, at the top of the start menu, select Windows update. This will take you to Microsoft's update page.
1. select product updates
2. Choose yes on the security warning.
3. Scroll down and select the "Windows IDE hard drive cache package," and (if applicable) "Mapped drives shutdown update." Reboot.
This worked on my PC, I hope it does for you too.
