Truncated Filenames?

By mmyers ·
After upgrading to Office 2000 from Office 97, all of my Office 97 filenames have become truncated....for instance "filenam~.doc". All new files created with Office 2000 have normal filenames. Why did this happen, and how can I change the filenames back without renaming each and every one??

Truncated Filenames?

To be Honest this happend because of a bug in the Upgrage to Office 2000

This was reported during Beta Testing. and I geuss it wasn't fixed.

I'm not to sure on how to reverse the action if there is even a way to do this.

You might try creating a VB app to open one file at a time. Display the contents File name and Box for New Name to be save as.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
