Unless you have a fireware on both ends, I would not even consider it. If that's not the case, I would need some more detailed info about your network(s) to help you out. If you want, you can email me at "chesmebr@hotmail.com". Best of luck!

Hi!

On the PDC and all BDCs of Domain1 edit the LMHOSTS file and add Domain2s PDC & all it's BDCs.

And then the other way around in the other domain if you want a full trust between the domains.

In the LMHOSTS file found under WINNT\System32\drivers\etc\lmhosts.sam
Rename it to lmhosts only.

Edit it accordingly there are some pointers in it on how you should format the text.

After all this is done you have to edit your networking settings, go to the protocols choose properties on the TCP/IP protocol and choose WINS-adress, at the lower half you have a checkbox for using LMHOSTS file, check it and reboot your computer.

There is no secure way of doing this. It opens way to many IP ports.

If you do not have a dedicated connection from site1 to site2, don't waste your time. Trusts require a minimum dedicated bandwidth. If you've got "big pipes", give it a shot but in my experience you'll spend more time trying to determine why the trusts disappear or fail that it's worth. We've tried this on T1's, T3's and above and have never gotten full success. The only way we've implemented this successfully is with leased line direct site to site connections.

Probably doesn't help answer your direct question be aware of the potential pitfalls.

Nothing to say more than Answer #2 and #4. when ever you are creating a trust by using Internet. That will give wide open connection to the hackers. Be aware of this fact.
