Trying to hook up to additional PC at remote location w/ PC Anywhere

By ebonchill ·
I had a PC hooked up to another PC in a remote location using PC anywhere. We installed an additional PC at the remote location using a router with a static IP Address. We can still hook up to the first PC using PCAnywhere but cannot hook up to the 2nd PC-which we need because it has camera's? Any ideas?? Thanks!

Port forwarding

You might need to look at port forwarding on your router. I have a client who only has one public ip and it is forwarded for remote desktop to only one PC. Find out what port PC Anywhere uses and see if the router is forwarding that to your 1st PC.

Port Forwarding is the best bet

by NoSpam In reply to Port forwarding

Port forwarding is the way to go about it. The make/model of the router or firewall device that you are using will determine how hard it will be to set it up, but it can be done. By default, PCAnywhere uses ports 5631 for PCAnywhere Data and port 5632 for PCAnywhere Status. To forward the ports to the second machine, simply create a rule that takes traffic on 2 other ports, such as 5633 and 5634 and forward them to the internal IP address of the second machine but to the internal ports of 5631 & 5632 respectively. No configure the PCAnywhere software on hte location where you will be viewing the remote location (the camera machine in your example) to use 5633 & 5634 instead of the defaults. Point PCAnywhere to the static external IP and it shouyld work fine. If you need more help or clarification, just let me know.
