Unable to access the internet.

By shikonari ·
Here's the issue I'm able to ping internally within the Network with no issues, but can't ping external to the outside network. Tried going to google.com,Yahoo ect.. no luck this is within internet explorer 7. Checked under tools option, Connection and made sure under LAN setting Proxy is not selected. I though it might be Internet Explorer issue so I tried on different browsers Firefox, Chrome and they all have the same issue can't browse the internet.

Made sure windows firewall services is stop as well as any antivirus software running with no luck.
Also checked Local area connections status is working fine.
Checked the host file made sure nothing is added except the ones that should be there.

I ran out of ideas, if anyone knows the solution for this it would very much appreciate it. Thank you in advanced.

Can other workstations on the same LAN connect to the Internet?

Can you goto a website by entering it's IP address?

(e.g. 74.125.67.103 for Google)

The DNS is not being resolved in this case. put in 8.8.8.8 in your DNS and see if you can go out to the internet.

Try reposting this in the 'Q&A' forum. The 'Discussion' forum is for matters of general discussion, not specific problems in search of a solution. The 'Water Cooler' is for non-technical discussions. You can submit a question to 'Q&A' here:

http://www.techrepublic.com/forum/questions/post?tag=mantle_skin;content

There are TR members who specifically seek out problems in need of a solution. Although there is some overlap between the forums, you'll find more of those members in 'Q&A' than in 'Discussions' or 'Water Cooler'.

Be sure to use the voting buttons to provide your feedback. Voting a '+' does not necessarily mean that a given response contained the complete solution to your problem, but that it served to guide you toward it. This is intended to serve as an aid to those who may in the future have a problem similar to yours. If they have a ready source of reference available, perhaps won't need to repeat questions previously asked and answered. If a post did contain the solution to your problem, you can also close the question by marking the helpful post as "The Answer".
