unwanted ads

By mazelezen ·
How can I stop unwanted ads on my computer. I have a wireless cable internet connection. Running XP. With the computer on and no programs running. An ad will pop up or a voice will say I won an Apple ipod. How do I stop this.

get firefox + adblock plus

by ksmith In reply to Its on

Personally if I would suggest you to start using firefox and use the addon <a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865" target="_blank">Adblock Plus</a>

This will help further problems with popups, but it seems like you currently have spyware on your computer.

Download the program <a href="http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2007/3000-8022_4-10766151.html?tag=lst-1" target="_blank">Ad-Aware</a> and run a scan of your computer. It should find any spyware if it is there.

Good call

by seanferd In reply to adaware

Spybot Search & Destroy is very good also. I like 'em both. Can't beat free, either.

edit: Oh yeah, CCleaner, as mentioned by ThumbsUp2, is very good as well. Collect 'em all.
