By rolust ·
Is upgrading from Vista to Win7 recommended or just wipe the drive and do a fresh install of win 7?

its best because the underlying system and i think even the NTFS file system may even have some net changes vs what vista used?

If it was Vista on bare metal, then straight to upgrade, with no crapware, and fully supported out of the box hardware on both OS's, then may be.

In a real system that's been running a bit, the 'erm saving in effort will be completely cancelled out the first time something funny happens.
Which is a when not an if isn't it?

Vista to Win7

After the time you've spent with Vista, I recommend a vacation in the islands and then, when Google finally releases a solid version of Chrome OS on a good laptop, come home and start over. If you haven't budgeted that much, a clean install is always best.
