URL Linking With Lotus Notes

By dan.cote.b ·
How come when I highlight a URL in my Lotus Notes mail message, and create a link "hotspot", Notes pops open a new window for me to type/paste-in the URL? It already knows the URL, and this seems like a redundent step? Is there a setting in Notes that I have to modify to fix this? Please help.

Thanks

If the text you highlight is a URL, the only thing the reader needed to do is: File->Tools->User Preferences->Advanced options->Mark the item 'Make Internet URLs......'
But the agent will stop in edit mode.
When you create a hotspot on some text, Notesdon't check what the text is.

Dan - not sure I completely understand what you're trying to do, but if your intent is to make the URL clickable for the recipient, you don't need to make it a hotspot - Notes will interpret the URL as a hotspot automatically provided the user's mail system (Notes?) is capable of interpreting the URL as a hyperlink (as described in dl's posting. You do need to put in the full URL though starting with HTTP://. Hope this helps.
