By gnsimkus ·
I'm having difficulty connecting my USB 56000bps modem.I have had it connected, but some days it will not connect at all. Some ideas on troubleshooting or fixing the problem would be appreciated.

Some things to check...
Do you have other devices on the USB? Maybe one of them is conflicting. They shouldn't but they sometimes do.
Do you have the latest driver for this device?
Do you have the latest USB driver for your OS?

Thanks for the advice, but unfortunately the answer to all the above is Yes. Anything else ?

Last answer was troubleshooting.
This is my fix.

Since you have all of the latest greatest drivers, there is nothing more you can do there.

Either the device has poorly written drivers or your computer doesn't do USB properly. The only way to know is to install other USB devices if you alreday have some that work, then I would return this modem and get a different brand of modem. If it also doesn't work then the problem is most likely your USB.

OK. I did wonder about the drivers, because I have a USB web cam and I don't seem to have a problem with it. Thanks
