    USB Printer

    Locked

    by harvardd ·

I have not had any experience installing USB printers

Recently, installed window 98 SE and then I installed a printer driver for a USB printer. Next I ran a test print just to find that the print device did not respond.

When I send a print job to the printer, there is no print job in the printer queue.

There are no parallel ports on this computer. There are only USB ports and the print device is connected via a USB port.

Does anybody know why the USB printer is not beingfound? Is there a setting or driver I have to install for USB?

When this happened to me the first time I installed a USB printer, it was because I did not follow the printer setup EXACTLY.

So I had to completely uninstall the printer (and reboot) and go back to the “documentation” (I apologise for the foul language).

1 – with the printer NOT attached to the computer, install the print driver
      2 – reboot
3 – attach the USB printer with the computer up & running
      4 – finalise the config

      You should be OK now

Also make sure that you have enabled USB in your computer’s BIOS and that the Universal Serial Bus controller is installed in Device Manager and does not have any errors or conflicts.
