User can Not Access Adobe

By mecit ·
I recently did a rebuild of a NT work statiion
I loaded Office 97 , Norton and a CDRW software.
I then loaded Adobe Photo 6, Adobe Page Maker 7 and Adobe Illustrator 10. When the user logs on she can access every thing except the adobe software. for Illustrator she gets CAN NOT RUN
for Page Maker SHE gets Plugin can not be completed (7212) (6752)
If I give her administrator rights all runs well. I have removed and reloaded the software 3 time but no change. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO CORRECT THIS??

User can Not Access Adobe

by Joseph Moore In reply to User can Not Access Adob ...

This is probably an NTFS permissions issue. The NTFS Security on a directory under C:\Program Files\Adobe is locked down too tightly for your user to use Adobe.
I had this same problem a few weeks ago. I had to loosen the NTFS Security on the PDF Output directory so a user could run Adobe Acrobat to make PDFs.
So, you could either just change the security on C:\Program Files\Adobe and give Everyone Full Control rights, or you could just add this user account to have Full Control rights.
First, log in as an Administrator.
Next right-click on the C:\Program Files\Adobe folder -> Properties -> Security tab.
Click Add and add the user account who needs to run Adobe. Then, in the lower part of the window, click the drop-down and select Full Control. Click OK.
Now you should be at the main Security window again. The user account should be listed, with Full Control next to their name. Good.
Click the checkbox above that says something to the effect of "let all permissions apply to all subfolders". I forget what it says exactly. Click this checkbox and click OK.
You will get a "are you sure" message. Click Yes on this, so the new rights get applied to every subfolder.

Now, have the user log in, and Adobe "should" run ok.

IF you a) do NOT have a Security tab when you go to Properites on the Adobe folder, or if b) after changing the Security it still does not work, then you will have to modify the Security of the Registry itself, and that is a whole different ballgame!
hope this helps
