User can't connect to network shares through applications

By jill ·
Hi Everyone,

I have a user that cannot connect to network shares through applications. She can open Explorer and connect to the share, so it's not a connectivity issue. However, if she tries to access a share through the Open dialog in a program like Photoshop or InDesign, the program crashes. The window goes all white and will stay that way for ages. You cannot end the program through task manager. The only way to get out of it is to reboot the computer. This also happens with programs that access a database which is on a server. Any ideas? She is using Windows XP SP3.

Thanks,
Jill

I would suggest more memory and a better graphic card...

It would seem that the computer in question is running out of puff. I would start with a better graphic card and more memory though going for a 64 bit operating system would open up more possibilities for going over the restricted 3.2gb limit for the 32 bit operating system. If you have enough memory then get a more powerful graphic card.
