By murthy65 ·
hello all,

Anybody of this forum help me.I am using windows xp professional. My son is a mischivious boy.He always tamper with the system files and they corrupts and each time i had to reload the xp by formatiing the system.

I had created an user account for him.But when he or myself trying to load the required games in his account they arenot being loaded.wants the administrator rights.when i had installed from my account they are not visible in his account or he could not able to achieve it.

Please tell me the method to install in his account as a administrator.

Worth a try

by sirknightii In reply to user rights in xp

I had my XP corrupted and re-installed 2000 Professional on my machine so have not had chance to simulate the exact scenario you described.
However I would like to suggest that in order to have applications run under his account - try logging into your account and upgrade his to administrator.
Then log into his account and install the software - once completed take away admin rights from his account and he should still have access to programs installed - of course he will not be able to make any changes without the admin rights.

Hopefully that will help.

Hope to have my XP reinstalled this weekend so can better assist with other simulations.

power user

by dulus In reply to user rights in xp prof wo ...

Log on by your administrator account .... then goto Start-Control Panel-Performance and Maintenance-Administrative Tools-Computer Management .... OR simply go to Start-Run and type there %SystemRoot%\system32\compmgmt.msc /s or compmgmt.msc ..... a window will pop up on the screen ... on the left side (in the tree navigation) go to Local Users and Grups and left click on it.... in the window on the right than click on folder Users. There you should see every account that is on the pc. Right click on yours son account and in the rolet menu click on properties, in newly opened window go to "Member of" tab and then click Add .... in another window click Advanced and in another window click find now .... now choose the grou Power Users and click on OK and/or apply until you will close every window .... now your son should be able to play any game .... I had it like this at home cause my brothers are messing with pc too ... if you will have any further questions feel free to contact me ...
