Veritas backup problem

By Red Dragoon ·
We have the Veritas backup software on our Windows NT Terminal Server. I created a full backup job. When it runs, it quits about 30 minutes into the job. It reports 'A Win32 error has occurred on Drive C'. What does this mean, and how can I fix it?

Veritas backup problem

There are a lot of things that could be wrong at this point. However, try these things first. Most likely the backup job is trying to backup an open file of a program that is running in the background which is then causing the error to occur. Look at your setting for what the job does when it comes to an open file. There are usually three choices. Set your job options to not backup open files. If this solves the problem then you need to do a thorough search of what program is running (or if there is a user logged) and if you can stop the program (or logoff the user) during your backup. If so do so. If you can't then you can choose to backup the file but do not lock the file while backing up. This will most likely work.
Other possibilities for this error are of course an unstable operating system or buffer underrun.
