very big problem-i deleted partition!..

By europanorama ·
today i made i big mistake:i deleted a 650mb-partition in fdisk(no formatting) on my first 4gb-hdd when i was trying to copy a second harddrive to a third. pls do not ask why, its too complicated.
i only need to know if data can be recovered. fortunately i have backed up almost all, but not every data.
i think encase is not the right tool. i will now take away hdd 2 and 3(both fat16-win311).

Unfortunately, once you delete the partition, you lose all the data on that partition. But at least you will appreciate the value of backing up.

If you want to increase the size of a partition or add new partitions, Partition Magic by Powerquest is your best bet, available here:
http://www.powerquest.com/partitionmagic/

Fdisk is a very dangerous tool, even for advanced users.

i did not stop working on this hdd. nsworks tells it cannot read from d(604mb)-partition.
i have norton discdoctor(dos) and ontrack easyrecovery(dos+windows).can i use them or just look what i will see inside these programs by putting the 4gb in a second pc as secondary master?
btw: all happened when i had great confusion analyting the letters in fdisk when i tried to copy a second harddrive st3660a, win311 to a 850mb-hdd. meanwhile i learnt(it was not the first time i did this) that i could copy it with ghost, filecopy was not possible due to the existing bootmanager, unfortunately not from seagate(ez-drive frommaxtor i guess). drive is shown as non-dos. how can i convert to fat?

Have found that if you change the partition information and reboot (tried to expand c:) and would not reboot, as long as you have the previous FDisk settings and have not formatted the drive, you can recreate the previous drive information using fdisk and finish backing up the files. They all magically reappear when the partition reappears with the proper fat setting.

what should i do in fdisk, delete the existing partition again and risk more? winme shows raw instead of fat 32, fdisk days unknown and ontrack easyrecovery(dos) shown the files. i have big problems recovering and saving them with this program. i will now use a fresh program and retry. can anyone tell me how is the precise procedure after the program has found the files. should they saved elsewhere than to the original place. i have setup a second harddrive formatted with fat32. it is not bootable. i hope this is ok, or not. i have big troubles saving the files there. i do not understand what the program wants from me or it is corrupt. i should enter a name(name for what) and destination(cant read new harddrive-partitions(i have made 4).
