VIA Vinyl AC'97 Audio Codec Code 10

By ldb26 ·
I have an optima A255 series laptop, nothing flash. Just formatted it to XP Home for a friend due to it not being looked after.

I reinstalled the vinyl audio codec which is the correct one for the laptop, and there is an exclamation mark next to it in the device manager and it can not start. Have re installed many times just throwing my luck around but yes... no luck for me, I can not stand audio codec's when it comes to reinstalling them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks aLL

Luke

Correct drivers might not be latest drivers...

by OldER Mycroft In reply to VIA Vinyl AC'97 Audio Cod ...

Depending on whether the newly installed XP Home might be newer than the Vinyl Audio driver from the original driver disc.

Try this link:

http://www.optima.com.au/Downloads/downloads.asp?os=Windows+NT+4.0+Workstation&type=All+Types

and grab the A255 vinyl audio drivers.

There could also be a conflict with the version of Media Player that is currently installed.
