By hdaca ·
I would like to know an expert opinion about what software is good, and what resources do I need (RAM and HD space). Thank you.

The quality of the MPG produced is more on the Video capture board that you would buy.
You could try the Matrox Marvel G-400. It comes bundled w/ Avid Cinema video capture software. For your RAM requirement, it should at least be 256/512MB. Withregards to your disk space need, it would depend on the amount of mpgs that you would be producing. I suggest starting w/ a 36-gig SCSI-3 HDD.

If you want to edit, then hands down go with the Matrox RT2000 board. It comes with Adobe Premiere(Non Linear Editor), Acid 2.0(looping software), and two great titlers. It costs $1100 and will allow you to do realtime transitions which cuts way back on your wait time. You can buy a couple of Baraccuda Hard Drives for $300. A CD Burner brings an additional plus. With the RT2000 you also get DVDit a piece of software which allows you to burn cDVD's [This is a CD with DVD quality (MPEG2) video on it.] The above system outlined will only cost you about $4000 which for a Real Time editor is INCREDIBLE...
