Viewing PowerPoint files ?

By forsythes ·
I'm trying to view a .ppt file and I get an error through powerpoint when trying to view it that says I cannot view the file. When I try and recover it, it gives me a visual basic error:6. Is there any tool or program I can use to view the file or try and recover it and what is the actual coding of a .ppt file supposed to look like when viewing it under disk editor. Thanks.

It all depends on what version of PowerPoint you are using. You might want to try to get your hands on the PPT 97 viewer utility and try reading the file with it instead of PowerPoint. Otherwise it sounds like a macro error.

Powerpoint 2000 should open a pp97 file. It sounds as if the file is corrupt. Try running a scan disk over top of it. I would assume that it's not backed up..
