Vista vs. Win 7…. Results
LockedYes it’s that time again, the never ending debate: What is the fastest OS?
In anticipation to the never ending debate, I thought it would be entertaining to get some test results out there before the big heated debates even start.
The test is going to be against a fully updated Vista 32 bit OS vs. a fully updated Windows 7 RC 7100.0.090421-1700_x86 OS. I am excluding XP from the test because unfortunately it will not install on my newer rig, after countless hours of trouble shooting and forum after forum, I gave up…
The hardware will stay the same across the board, but it is not the same hardware as my last benchmark tests. http://techrepublic.com.com/5208-6230-0.html?forumID=102&threadID=280962&messageID=2659904

I would have used the same hardware as the last tests but since that time, that rig has bit the dust! 🙁System spec’s: Core 2 Quad Q9300 CPU @2.5 GHz, 4 Gigs of XMS DDR3 RAM, 2 9800GTX+’s SLI configuration, nForce 790i SLI FTW PART NUMBER: 132-YW-E179-TR Motherboard, 2 36 Gig Raptor drives (Page file moved to 2nd drive).
Currently I have not ran the tests, I plan on running them either tonight after work or tomorrow night. LOL, no Im not going to throw Ubuntu 9.04 in the mix, as much as I love Linux, benchmark tests just don’t compare fairly… Example: DirectX vs OpenGL, cant really compare the two.
In my opinion the out come of the tests will be very interesting! I am comparing a supported OS vs an OS that is still in BETA… Just some food for thought! After using Win 7 on my laptop for quite some time I feel that its a legit race… Now I maybe eating my words, and I have no problem admitting when I am wrong. With that said, I predict that Win 7 RC will beat out Vista Ultimate…
**I will do my best to keep the test as balanced as possible!
Any comments? or predictions?

Looks like I am eating my words once again.
Enjoy the data, and take it for what it is. I added the 64 bit version in because I had numerous comments from friends that it would make a MASSIVE difference in the results… apparently not so.
