W2K file accessing

By barry.pickens ·
I looked at all of my user's settings, and insured they were "power users", with full access.
My problem is that the W2K computer seems to not allow a remote user to access his files, without asking the remote user for a password. This happens everytime I double-click on any W2K machine's files from a remote W98SE machine.
Do you think it has anything to do with the remote machine being on W98SE ?

A win98se or win9x anything, needs to remove *.pwl files from his system and when he or she logs into the network from a remote location, they cancel the windows logon screen and then input their username and password when connecting to your network or domain.

The Windows login and password on the local or client machine can interfere with remote logins (the *.pwl files).

In order to get access to a Win2K machine from a Win 98 machine, you'll need to make sure that the user account is set up in the Win2K machine. When you have that setup, log in from Win98 machine using the userid and password created in Win2K account.

Win2K will check to see if that userid is valid everytime you click on the computer name through the network. It's more secure than peer to peer networking with 98 or 95 but not too convenient if you just want to access network resources ina small home network.

In Win2K, putting the user in a power user group, enable that person to file sharing and printer creating. Let me know if this answers your question.
