W2k-Unable to lookup usernames for disp

By dchamizo ·
I'm receiving the following error on Windows 2K workstation when trying to add domain users to a shared directory:
Unable to lookup usernames for display

Technet mentions article Q262518, but I can't seem to find the fix for this.

Thanks in advance,
- Dave

W2k-Unable to lookup usernames for disp

This can happen when your PDC and BDC(s) get out of sync due to aggressive periodicity settings, separation by a dial-on-demand WAN, or other reasons.

In this situation, workstations can lose their domain membership in the eyes of the PDC while still being authenticated by a local BDC. Resyncing the domain can often take care of the problem.

Try "Synchronize entire domain" on your PDC in Server Manager and "Synchronize with PDC" on your local BDC. Check the event logs of both servers to ensure success of the synch, then try to set your share permissions again.
