web camera stops sending

By rnrruss ·
I have a web camera from x10.com that sends it's picture to my web page. This is set up to send a picture every 10 minutes, and my web page shows the picture. Everything works fine for a little while and then stops. I have to close my web camera program and start it again. I have looked on the x10.com web site for help and found nothing. I need this camera to work, Why is this happening? And how do I fix it?

web camera stops sending

I have 3 cameras from x10.com on a Win98 machine running X-Ray Vision Software which is set up to automatically scan all 3 cameras and FTP the last 3 images to my Win 2000 Server once a minute. On my server I have a web page that displays all 3 cameras (the last 3 images), and a java-script that auto-refreshes the page every minute. This setup used to run for 6 hours and stop just as you explained. When I called tech support at x10.com, it was explained their software had a database limit, and once exceeded would no longer update. This has been corrected in their most recent software offering. Go to the x10.com site and download the newest version of the x-ray vision software. If you have any other problems e-mail me for all my settings, or call their support number. Hope this helps, and good luck!

? Is there any sort of power save mode operating here? With the camera or the computer?

Turn off any screen savers that are active. Test and see if anything time out. If you screen goes blank after awhile, see if there's a power save mode onthe monitor that you can turn off. See if power management is "Enabled" in your computer bios, and change it to "Disabled."

If all of the above is okay, then you may have a defective unit... the camera could overload and shutsdown when it getshot.

Can you call the manufacturer's technical support? They may know of the problem and have a fix for it (their site seems to be really geared toward "Sales" not "Support").
