Welcome to the new Community site for TechRepublic!

Hello Everyone and welcome to the new Community site for TechRepublic!

We are excited about our new design and hope you will be as well! Along with a new look, we also have some new upcoming features that we are excited for you to check out that we are sure you will really love - Such as the one that will be over in the Tech QA forum - it is one that will allow you to give that well deserved pat on the back when someone has given you an awesome answer to a question you have. You will be able to mark their Answer "Resolves Question" which in return will place an awesome badge next to their Answer saying "Best Answer". Course not everyone's comment can be a Best Answer, it must a a top level answer (no clarifications and afraid no children, just the parents will qualify), and only one Best Answer per Thread. This is just one of the new many other exciting features coming your way real soon, but the in the meantime - Take a look around the new place, see what you think! But remember....

We do know though that even after months and months of hard work and even with the best bug spray, that sometimes them darn creepy crawlers just seem to manage to find there way into the smallest cracks, because of this, we have created a spreadsheet for you to log any of these creepy crawling things you might find and we'll get right on them.

You can find the spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/a/cbsinteractive.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Am6thtySNMMxdE1NRDJ3cm9jYWJud0kzTmFvUGVPQWc#gid=0

We do ask that you please use this spreadsheet as it will help us keep everything confined to a central location making it much easier for us to squish, smoosh and stomp out them bugs has fast as you catch them. Though we are hoping you don't find any.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask - I am always here along with a wonderful fine group of moderators who can assist in answering any questions you may have.

Come on in, the water feels just fine....

site not working not faster - it took over 20 minutes for the "announcing-a-smarter-faster-techrepublic-for-2013" page to load - I've got one tab that has been spinning and doing nothing for 1/2 hour 99.9% of pages go to blank white screen with nothing on them and require performing an "F5" refresh flood and that's not 100% successful in retrieving the page and the cap is not readable 99.9% etc.

I've been patient as can be, knowing that it is not an easy effort to redesign such a large site, with all the forums, the new CAPTCHA YUCKY!!! I replied to a topic earlier, and it worked fine (no captcha) but for taht last three days, no matter how often I solve the captcha, it times out, or doesn't post or something odd goes wrong.

Today, I replied to a post about 10 times, with two browsers (chrome and FF) it timed out every time but it now shows there are two replies, the most recent being mine, GREAT! when you open the thread though, it shows there are 2 replies but neither are displayed.

Seriously Tammy, I know the IDEA behind the captcha is to stop bots form spamming but aren't most of the posts here from humans, even when just spam? It is FAR more inconvenient for a user to play around with captcha's, especially when the site doesn't work to begin with, than it is to ignore spam comments about new Reeboks or Gucci knockoffs on sale.

I'll give this post 3 or 4 tries anyway.

"This provides an immersive reading experience by stripping almost everything off of the page" - off WHAT of the page?

I input a word I knew was in the thread title and got a list of threads (I suppose) including the one I wanted. When I clicked on the one I wanted, the search got repeated rather than the thread appearing in some way.

The site will be a tad unstable while the TR staff gets everything ironed out. (happy)

More than once in the past, and today as well, I have edited my profile yet the changes do not seem to take effect. Oddly as well the order of "interests" and "bio" seems to be altered and randomize. I'd also like to edit my location and other data.

Maybe they're lost -- along with the rest of the site. Or maybe the remaining twelve are generating as slow as the rest of the site, and they are still waiting to appear.

This item says there are 15 comments, but it only shows 2 and there's no button to show all or similar.

What, no Linux/OpenSource categories? MicroCrap but no Linux, although the server world is dominated by it.

    Mistake?

But let's see if it holds up fine! I'm willing to give it a day or two so that the teething issues can be resolved.

I am liking the new community so far. I understand you all are working through some issues, it happens anytime you release a new product or site. Keep working on these issues and soon enough the site will be running top notch.
