So without knowing exactly which one you have I would hit the system with a Rescue Disc to scan for infections. I personally like F Secure but any of the Rescue Disc's listed in this TR Article will work

It's an opportunity

Wipe the disk and refresh the OS with a new install. Then do a selective restore of Data only from backups. It is a chance to test your backups. Also consider reorganizing the disk and partitions so that next time it is even easier to "refresh" the OS without loosing any data. With some care in planning you should be able to isolate the OS and applications from data files.

Most Malware will block removal Software

by reviewsgirl In reply to What's the best way to re ...

I have had many struggles trying to install virus removal software because most infection are built to block them it make for a difficult virus removal. I always prefer to remove them with software, I'd rather blame them if something goes wrong. So when I found the new free tool that stops viruses from running and lets me install any program I want, my days got a lot easier. Here is where you can find it nuke-M and here is a great source for the latest reviews on Best Antivirus Software 2012
